Speaking Topics:

Dyslexia Overview: the strengths and struggles of dyslexic students as well as the how and the why they may struggle in the classroom.
Screening for Dyslexia: this interactive class provides tools as well as an explanation of what we are looking for as we try to identify our dyslexic learners.
Accommodations for Dyslexia: This class briefly touches on the dyslexic language weaknesses and provides accommodation options that would fit in a 504 plan as well as “whole class” teaching options that will benefit dyslexic students.
Orion-Gillingham based Reading Intervention: The Barton Reading and Spelling System is designed for one-on-one student support but with our added tips and tricks, can be utilized in the classroom as a multi-sensory phonic options for all students. Utilizing small groups, the Barton Spelling lists and our classroom support posters and tiles can be addressed as well as the program itself.
